I met Ryan Willms in the spring of 2019. We’d both had careers in fashion in New York, and found our ways to Los Angeles, where we were diving deep into the personal growth arena. (It was highly rare to encounter another fashion/media dude who was sitting with ayahuasca and doing inner child work back then. Hell, it still is.) Ryan was starting Into the Well, a beautifully-designed online wellness platform and podcast that has evolved into MEP, and I jumped in to help him.
A handful of months after Into the Well made its debut, the world would go into lockdown, and Ryan and I would go our separate ways creatively, but we’ve consistently stayed in touch, and followed each other’s journeys. So I was pumped when he asked me to join him on his MEP Podcast to dive into a variety of topics that both of us have been writing, sharing, and teaching about over the last four years. Together, we dive into the history of men’s work, the oft-avoided-yet- absolutely-critical “mother wound” in guys, and we have some laughs about the stumbles we’ve faced and continue to face on our respective paths. One thing I love and respect about Ryan is his willingness to keep pushing for more awareness and more freedom in his life and his desire to always share what he learns authentically with his community. This is a core value both of us strive for.
